Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Discharged from Hospital in Lagos Following Tragic Car Crash
Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities announced on Wednesday evening. The fighter was involved in a car accident outside Lagos on December 29th, a tragic incident that took the lives of two of his valued colleagues.
Recovering from Minor Injuries
The boxer had remained in the hospital while healing from his light wounds, his promoter had said on Monday. The Lagos state commissioner for information, Gbenga Omotoso, confirmed in an update online that Joshua was deemed clinically fit to continue his recovery at home.
“Anthony and his mother were at the mortuary in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two deceased friends as they were being prepared for repatriation,” Omotosho said.
Remembering the Victims
The two men who died were named as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a conditioning specialist. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and full of emotions over the passing of his two dear friends.”
The news of his discharge follows the boxing community had expressed sympathy for the star in the aftermath of the devastating accident.
