Barça Set to Play Historic Match at Upgraded Camp Nou this Saturday
Barcelona have announced their first game will take place at the renovated but unfinished Camp Nou over the weekend. The club will host Athletic Bilbao in La Liga 30 months since relocating to allow renovations to start.
“We envisioned this comeback. The moment has arrived. Home again at Spotify Camp Nou.”
Attendance will be limited but 45,401 spectators will be allowed to watch as per the current authorization. After final construction, the stadium’s capacity will reach close to 105,000 fans, up from the previous 99,000. Barça announced finished work included an updated entryway for the team and new dressing rooms.
Preparatory Events
Barça organized an open training session inside the stadium in early November. Officials stated approval is being pursued by UEFA to host the next European match facing Eintracht next month at Camp Nou. Their recent games have been held in the temporary ground.
